They do this by maintaining the physical integrity of the property including maintaining a safe, quality and productive distribution system(MHE) and work environment (office and general building) for all operation staff and contractors

a day in the life

Under the leadership of the Facilities Lead and Distribution Center Leadership Team, a Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with the entire 300,000 square foot retail distribution facility and the surrounding property. This includes the MHE, physical grounds, custodial, preventative, corrective, deferred and emergency care of the space. They will be responsible for the scheduled and corrective maintenance activities, including HVAC, general building, MHE and sorting equipment. 

  • Responsible for the facility operations and conveyor system maintenance activities
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain inventory of equipment/parts and schedule maintenance
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and safety audit to ensure quality of work
  • Assembly and installation of equipment such as: drive motors, gearboxes, belts, gravity conveyors, platforms, and other types of material handling equipment
  • Responding immediately to emergency situations, troubleshooting and resolving operational issues
  • Maintain maintenance and compliance logs
  • Manage 3rd party contractors/vendors
  • Daily inspection and cleanup of building perimeter, including general repairs
  • Inform appropriate DC partners on important communication

Qualifications

  • High school graduation is required, post-secondary education is an asset
  • Great mechanical/electrical aptitude, 2+ years of hands on experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing and distribution centers etc.
  • Direct experience with conveyor system or baggers
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, email + verbal)
  • Strong ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects under pressure (electrical/mechanical)
  • Skilled with power tools, ground maintenance equipment, electrical, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, paints, solvents, adhesives and able to operate PIT equipment (Raymond Preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs frequently
