About this team

As part of our People & Culture team, the China Health & Wealth Manager is responsible for the establishment, management and administration of our compensation and benefit programs for our growing China business.  This role works closely with our global health & wealth team to develop programs that are locally-relevant and aligned with our global philosophy and framework.  This role reports functionally (directly) to the Director, Health & Wealth and partners closely with the Director, People & Culture - China. 

A day in the life:

        Serves as the primary point of contact for our compensation and benefit programs, processes, and policies across our China retail operations as well as Store Support Center (SSC) roles. 

        Leads the implementation, administration and communication of total rewards programs including annual merit increases, short term incentive payments, benefit premium payment & reconciliation and benefits enrolment activities, other company perquisites, as well as the roll out of equity-related programs (long term incentives and ESPP) in light of recent SAFE registration approval in China.

        Works with external vendors for the ongoing administration of above-mentioned items.

        Works in partnership with the global health and wealth team to support with program design and development. 

        Provides pay recommendations to support with external hires and internal moves in partnership with our People & Culture Partners. 

        Oversees the preparation and submissions of salary & benefit survey submissions for China.  

        Keeps abreast of local legislation and trends and proactively brings market intelligence to the decisions we make to ensure our compensation and benefit programs are locally-relevant while at the same time in line with our global health & wealth philosophy. 

        Works closely with key cross functional partners including people operations, payroll, FP&A, and People & Culture business partners to ensure efficient and effective delivery of our total rewards programs. 

        Collaboration and partnership with China retail team including AD, RM and SM.Initially, operates as an individual contributor and as the business grows, recruits, develops, and provides leadership and coaching to other health & wealth team members in China.

Qualifications:

        8+ years related total rewards and/or human resources experience in a multinational company, with direct experience in Greater China

        Experience in the retail industry an asset

        Proficient in HRIS (Workday experience an asset), advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office software

        Deep interest in analysis and ability to drive sound decision-making

        Detail-oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy

        Ability to work independently with general supervision locally and remotely

        High level of discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information

        Ability to excel in a cross-functional and remote team environment and develop strong relationships with all levels of employees (from educator to executive)

        Working knowledge of China regulations, labor laws, etc

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent in spoken English and Mandarin

        Knowledge of total rewards programs in China (experience working with SAFE requirements an asset)
