The Merchandise team lives and breathes all things product! We collectively work together towards getting the right product for our stores and ultimately our guests


About This Role

Reporting to the Merchandise Manager or Director, the Associate Merchant is accountable for item creation, purchase order maintenance, line plan maintenance, on-order tracking and management, accurate data entry and maintenance in various systems.  This person assists the Merchant/Merchandise manager in the creation of the product assortment and line plan to deliver our design vision and meet or exceed guest expectation and financial goals


Key Responsibilities  

  • Responsible for data integrity and accuracy of the line plan (e.g., style number, color options and codes, product attributes, target FOB/IMU, forecasted units, purchase order, price management, item creation, on-order, line sheet and product flow reporting) 
  • Assist the merchandising team in developing merchandising strategies and preliminary product assortments, managing the localized line plan; including flow, weekly stories, cancellations and shifts in the business. 
  • Proactively collaborate with cross-functional partners; including design, development, raw materials, sourcing, production, fast turn, whitespace, planning, allocations, digital, visual merchandising and, logistics, to gather key information that support merchandising decisions
  • Proactively gathers, analyzes and drives insight from local market knowledge and competitive landscape across all channels.
  • Assist the Merchant/MM to manage the product lifecycle for all styles in assigned product categories including introduction, build and retirement of those styles.
  • Takes initiative in leading the in-season management of your product category, through flow, product education, chase, cancellations, markdowns and exit.
  • Trains, supports and mentors Merchandise Assistants
  • Demonstrates an excellent sense of style and is passionate about sweating, health and personal development 

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience or a university/college degree 
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience as a retail apparel buyer
  • Proficient with all programs in Microsoft Office 2007
  • Mastery of retail mathematics and Open to Buy
  • Strong understanding of season-to-season business performance
