Product Development | Senior Pattern Engineer

About this team:
The Product Development team is responsible for the management of multiple product track development projects at all stages from initial concepting, through design, development and up to start of production. As part of this team, we are comprised of Pattern Engineers, Technical Developers and Product managers. This team assists in the creation and commercialization of premium performance product ensuring it is performing for the intended end-use through garment fit and construction, and is meeting the required quality standards through lab and wear-testing in accordance with lululemon business goals.
A day in the life:
• Partner with functional manager to organize and prioritize daily workload of seasonal product range
• Ability to translate design concepts into pre-season patterns ensuring they maintain enterprise fit consistency
• Create new block patterns as necessary while maintaining fit standards
• Develop complete patterns and cutters must (legend) to achieve design aesthetic, fit, and construction with cost excellence mindset
• Mentor Pattern Engineers and Technical Developers on fit standards, adjustments, and pattern corrections
• Educate Designers and Merchants on fit standards to ensure brand consistency is maintained
• Effectively communicate and advise technical team and cross functional partners on pattern construction
• Collaborate with factories as needed for accurate use of pattern development
• Ability to cut and sew muslins for both live fitting and/or fitting on the form
• Expert ability to fit on a live model
• Be pattern expert and advise in fittings as needed to support Technical Developers
• Strong analytical thinking, written, and verbal communication
• Technical lead for Pattern Engineers
Qualifications:
• Patternmaking Degree
• 8 – 12 years combined industry experience in pattern making (preferably development through production)
• Expertise of fit, balance, garment construction, and fabric reaction
• Extensive technical knowledge of performance and ready-to-wear product and fit (materials/fabric, construction, and body movement)
• Strong team leader, player, and collaborator; able to work cross-functionally
• Knowledge of product creation calendar timelines and able to work against deadlines
• Proficiency in MS office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, Gerber Pattern Making
• 3D software experience (CLO, Browzwear) is an asset
• Experience with plus size market an asset
• Deep experience working with manufacturers across Asia, Americas, and Europe
Must haves:
• End-to-end thinker who has experience driving consistency, creating standards, and successfully enrolling team members
• Attention to detail, initiative, organization, strong verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with overlapping timelines
• Expert knowledge of fabric, construction, draping, graphics, and dye techniques
• Comphensive knowledge of pattern grading
• Extensive experience working with vendors to create production ready patterns
• Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, collaborative mindset
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced, cross-functional team environment
• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Curiosity for change and learning; capable of managing ambiguity
